On Saturday 5th May at the local Braidwood Arts Centre, Two Fires welcomed John Blay as he spoke about his adventures walking and exploring the wild country in south east NSW. Including how a dingo stole his hat!
John was introduced as a One Person Two Fires Festival, as he is a poet, writer, artist, environmentalist and has also worked for many years with local Indigenous people on the extraordinary Bundian Way Project (see their website for more information).
The audience from near and far was enthralled with his entertaining and informative presentation, and many had time to talk with him after about their particular interests.
John’s 2 books “Back Country” and “On Track” were available and keenly purchased by many after his talk.
John is a generous supporter of Two Fires.
He wrote to us recently:
“ The Two Fires Festival has been an iconic Australian event, celebrating one of Judith Wright’s masterpieces, but also place, environment, passion, the Aboriginal and European cultures and their art. This focus gives the festival its singular force…”
